Today’s Children Will Shape our Future

Today’s Children Will Shape our Future

We are at the very beginning of another school year right now, and as a parent, I have a certain amount of trepidation about sending my kids back to school.  I’m certain I’m not alone in my fears.  There it is, that word and feeling: fear.  It drives so much in our society, including tensions with and violence against people who we don’t know, or who we don’t think we have anything in common.

It is my deep hope that we can all face our fears so that we can create a future that embraces kindness and respect for others, especially those whom we don’t know or who are different from us.  I have said before that as parents and educators we have an obligation to have the difficult conversations with the children in our lives so that we can help them be the people who create a world of kindness and respect for generations.  Generational change may sound daunting but I’m certain we can do it…if we just start to try.  We have nothing to lose and everything to gain if we succeed in helping the children in our communities understand and embrace the differences among us, our cultures and our ideas.  Today’s children will shape our future; they need to be ready.

As part of our commitment to invest in educational initiatives for children, Time Timer is sponsoring The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on Tour this year.  Each year, TCTC on Tour brings an opportunity for children from diverse backgrounds to not only experience professional theatre, but to explore, discuss and engage with the tough topics (and some fun ones) that will help them become the people who bring more kindness and respect into this world.  Children are our future and TCTC on Tour is one way that we are investing in helping educators and families have the hard conversations that will empower the next generation.  TCTC on Tour is conducting both virtual and in-person performances…if you’re looking for an opportunity to bring this experience to your school, please contact TCTC on Tour.  From everyone at Time Timer, we wish you a successful and safe school year.
