    Would be good for an older child

    I bought this to help my toddler with transitions. Concept is great, but the execution has been frustrating. The knob is able to be pulled off, which is great because I can set the time and take off the knob and give it to her and she can’t change it. However, the button is the worst feature. My daughter instantly pushes the button and stops the timer. I even tried taping it down but she was able to push and pause it. It completely defeats the purpose of something that she can hold and look at. I often get frustrated enough that I just give up using it. If you are getting it for yourself and you have more self control, it would probably be better. Lastly, and this is not something that I am docking points for because it is not marketed towards toddlers, but I wish the battery compartment was screwed on. If it gets dropped even a foot, the battery back pops off and the battery falls out and that frightens me as a mother. All in all, good idea but doesn’t work for our needs. If they had a version without the pause feature and even better with a screw in battery back, it would be perfect for helping with transitions in a young child.

The pause feature is intended to allow for flexibility, but we understand how it could be challenging with little ones who want to explore all the buttons!

    While the Time Timer PLUS may not be the perfect fit for your toddler right now, we're grateful you recognized the value in using visual timers for transitions. As your child grows, we hope the Time Timer can become a helpful tool in your household. We have launched the Time Timer MOD in 30-minute and 10-minute durations if you feel that may work better for your toddler.     This timer is my new favorite!

    I am a PhD student with ADHD and Autism and I've been in love with the 60 minute timers for a few years now. Recently, a colleague introduced me to these 20 minute timers specifically for starting tasks and I definitely have a new favorite! I've purchased 3 of these in the last couple months and I've been recommending them to everyone I know. These are portable, they have sound control, and they're really perfect for getting started because 5 minutes doesn't look like no time at all on these, so they're great for forcing yourself to stop an activity on 5-10 minutes as well as doing an activity you don't like for just 5-10 minutes.
